Dear Friends of Gatepath,

When paths meet, we tend to stay connected to those who have left an impression with us.  My path first crossed with Community Gatepath® over 25 years ago when my children were referred to their care.  Since that time, I have served multiple terms on the Board of Directors, which has reinforced my belief in our mission and the impact we have on the lives of children and adults with disabilities.

Strong organizations continually evolve and adapt their services to changing needs.  In our case, we’ve recognized a significant increase in the demand for children’s services, which is consistent with national forecasts of rapidly growing numbers of children with special needs.

Gatepath is currently one of the few agencies continuing to accept new referrals while others have been forced to cap services due to demand.  We’ve managed to increase our service capacity through strong financial management; however, to continue meeting demand for services, our management team and Board have committed to a major expansion of Children’s Services to provide increased direct and online support on a local, regional, and even national basis.

Accordingly, we are undertaking our first-ever capital campaign to guarantee children and families have access to the resources and services that are critical for early childhood development.  Through Campaign for Possibilities, Gatepath’s Children’s Services will:

• Expand our direct services for children with special needs from birth to age three to include children ages three to five;
• Expand our onsite Family Resource Center to provide parents with online support and resources so they can better understand and manage their child’s diagnosis; and
• Establish a Knowledge Center, with a physical and online presence, to provide more comprehensive information to professionals, governmental agencies, and others who serve children with special needs and their families

I am tremendously excited about the many possibilities this campaign brings to the children and families we will serve.  Please join me and together we will help more children, support more families and share our learning so that every child and family has access to the resources vital to their development.
